On Tuesday, September 3rd singer Monica and her NBA player hubby Shannon Brown welcomed their first child together, daughter Laiyah Brown.

Thursday, the proud father posted an adorable pic of him snuggling with his baby girl.  Of course, Laiyah is already a fashionista rocking an animal print swaddle.  He also wrote, “THANK GOD for her!!! JOY has been restored in my LIFE!!!”

Just a few weeks ago the couple celebrated the upcoming arrival of their little girl with a carnival themed baby shower at Jermaine Dupri‘s home.  The event had close to 200 guests with many of Atlanta’s well-knowns.

Guests dined on lots of comfort foods, including sweet potato fries and grilled cheese.  There was also a huge, strawberry-velvet flavored carousel cake that slowly spun around. 

We are so happy for them.  They are such a gorgeous couple and you can always see the love that they share for one another.  They each have sons from previous relationships (Monica has 2 and Shannon has 1) so how cute is it that their first child together is also their first girl?
