Happy Monday everybody!!!! I hope you all had a great weekend. I just wanted to share with you an AMAZING experience that Kira and I took part in this past Saturday.
Our job partnered with Habitat for Humanity to begin building a home that will go to a family in need of a fresh start. I’d heard of the organization, but didn’t really know much about it. Still, when our company announced that they were needing volunteers, we both jumped at the opportunity.
We showed up at 7 am. The entire neighborhood that we were building in was made up of homes also built by Habitat for Humanity. There were a few other companies there as well. Each company was given a different home to build. When we got to our “home” all that was there was a concrete slab and stacks of wood. Literally.

As always, Kira was pumped and ready for the day. Timbaland boots and all! Lol

Now, for those of you that don’t know me….I am FAR from handy. Definitely a girly-girl. Needless to say, I was a little worried about how this would turn out. But with my partner in crime with me, I was ready to take on the day.

We had a few guys from Habitat for Humanity to guide us along the way. They were definitely very patient and they made the day soooooo much fun for us.

I must say, it was a really great experience. It definitely put a lot of things in perspective for me. So many times we get caught up in the daily stresses of life, that we forget just how much we have to be thankful for. I know that I am BEYOND blessed. There are so many times that God placed people in my life to do things I couldn’t do on my own or save me from myself. I know I can never repay those people, but I can always pay it forward and be a blessing to someone else.
My hope in sharing this experience is that maybe it will encourage others to lend a hand or do something for others as well. Also, if you would like an opportunity to give back but just aren’t sure how, Habitat for Humanity is always accepting volunteers. They even have special volunteer opportunities for youth, women, and veterans.
